Coachella

by Teresa 30. April 2010 15:36

The Coachella festival in California does not only attract an amazing lineup of performers but provides fab fashion inspiration from festival babes like Alexa Chung.

I need to find myself a nude colored silky romper like the one above ASAP.

Are you ready Dubai?

by Teresa 30. April 2010 00:36

Socks in sandals is a look taking the fashion world by storm. Unfortunately the amount of raised eyebrows at the Ezra fashion show the other night made me think Dubai might not be ready? Well I wouldn't be a fashion blogger worth the title if I didn't take minor fashion risks. Cheers to that.

Asymmetric dress from Zara, socks from River Island, sandals Jimmy Choo.

EZRA

by Teresa 29. April 2010 23:34

My thoughts on the Ezra Fashion Show:

- Ezra IS the new Reem Acra! It's a matter of time before Beyonce will be rocking one of his creations at the MTV Awards. You read it here first...

- After the slight disappointment that was Dubai Fashion Week, this show was what I needed to restore my faith in Dubai's fashion scene.

- The styling was CLEARLY inspired by Chanel, Spring 2010.  Nonetheless it accentuated the collection well and a big thumb up for the choice of models. Great confidence on the catwalk!

- Highlights of the collection were the fabulous colour combinations such as nudes with reds and lime greens with aquatic blues.

- The mermaid style dresses didn't really do it for me. Anything even remotely close to a mermaid style train makes me think Mariah Carrey, ca 1983, first wedding? Nonetheless Ezra's show was the best 'local fashion export material' I have seen so far. I am looking forward to seeing more of his work.

This weeks catch.

by Teresa 29. April 2010 18:25

Are you gaga for bows? This sweatshirt I saw at H&M today is simple and yet stylish. At 99 dhs I think we can call it 'this weeks catch'?

Cheeky

by Teresa 29. April 2010 11:14

These cupcakes with a cheeky message were the treat at this month’s Dubai Fashion Week.

I would however like to elaborate the whole muffin top issue - or hopefully muffin top-soon-to-be-gone issue. The big news is I have hired a personal trainer! Small step for the human but a huge leap for the human kind... or something like that.

The downside is I'll have to cut down on shopping etc. but all the clothes in my closet will fit so much better, I also can't wait to get re-energized in the way that's only possible though exercise so all and all it's a win / win.

Dolce Dolce Dolce

by Teresa 28. April 2010 22:32

I finally got to take my Dolce&Gabbana frock out for some gallavanting around town.

The dress was a Netaporter sale impulse buy. Since it's rather colorful and detailed I assumed that it was going to be a ’one hit wonder’ , but this baby has actually attended both the races, a summer wedding and a few black tie events.

I really love the bright colors together with it’s funky cut but the real highlight of this dress is the draping and chain ornament on it’s back.

Since the dress is so rich in details I went for 'barely there' make up and an Alexander Wang - inspired loose plait.

Ombre

by Teresa 28. April 2010 20:48

Silly little problem seen from the global perspective (I know that!), nonetheless it has been causing me (almost) sleepless nights lately. I'm talking about the question that pops up in my head approx. every 3 months - the good old 'what should I do with my hair'?

Having tried every shade from platinum blonde (and never going down that road again...) to Goth - rocker wannabe black (another look I'd rather erase from my memory), I was feeling rather uninspired until I saw this picture...

Just got off the phone with my hairdresser and ladies and gents, I am going ombre!

To achieve a similar look, apart from the colouring I will have to cut a few more layers and maybe throw in a few innocent hair extensions for added volume, but so be it. I can't wait!

Do you mind?

by Teresa 27. April 2010 20:36

Kate B., if you are reading this, do you mind if I shamelessly copy your outfit?

Jeans cut-offs, lacey tops and mid-heel ankle boots all live in my closet already. As icing on the cake, last week when I was in Rome I bought a pair of new aviators from Salvatore Ferragamo. I have been looking for a pair of extra large, golden ones for a really long time so once I stumbled upon those I had to make an exception from my NO SHOPPING IN APRIL rule. After all, paying rent is overrated if you ask me...
