Marni + H&M

by Teresa 28. February 2012 18:26

The H&M designer collaborations have always been a bit of a hit and miss - the latest Versace one was a big fat bucket of tacky; having said that I did love both the Viktor and Rolf one as well as the Stella McCartney one (which was one of their very first ones if I recall it correctly).

How do I feel about the Marni contribution? I COMPREHEND it's design value and whilst I think that it it's very aesthetically appealing it doesn't really suit my personal style. This collection is super feminine and as you all have learned by know I am a bit more of a rock'n'rolla. These are the kind of pieces I would more likely hang on my wall but not really see myself wearing.

Will they go down well in the UAE? I know for a fact that they will be a huge hit in Europe and the Swedish blogs have been raving about the collection for months. I can also tell you the handfull of Dubai fashionistas that will appreciate and rock the socks of these elaborate designs but overall I think that the UAE taste is not refined enough for Marni.

Anyhow anywho - the combo above of the brocade top with the sequin collar necklace is my very favourite and I will try to lay my paws on it once released.

How will I wear it? With cut off jeans shorts and a pair of white Converse, naturally. Comes without sayin'.....

P.S LOVE the artwork that is the campaign (shot by Sofia Coppola in Morocco).

Many things are being said about the sultry temptress at the moment, I myself have fallen for her style on and off the screen.

La Isla Bonita

by Teresa 26. February 2012 18:24

Just like predicted, the island prints are here for good and so this week I am lusting over these beauties from Charlotte Olympia at Net-A-Porter.

Pastels aren't usually my thing but there is something about them that makes them dreamy.

Monochrome funk

by Teresa 21. February 2012 11:57

I honestly don't know why I keep dressing in black and white. This too shall pass I guess? The next item of clothing will be something ridiculously bright and juicy, I have to snap out of this monochrome funk. Watch this space....

Organic.

by Teresa 20. February 2012 10:00

This weekend I spent most of my Friday snuggled up indoors watching back to back episodes of SATC so when the sandstorm finally calmed down on Saturday I pulled a sweater over my nightie (very Sarah Jessica Parker) and went to the Garden Centre to do some organic fruit and veg shopping. And yes I am a hippie.

Dubai's best coffee can be found at the Garden Centre. So I had one. The other one is Carrie's but she was camera shy.

You could find all kinds of funky stuff there - like courgette flowers. I remember eating ricotta stuffed courgette flowers when I was in Rome last year, but I would have no idea how to cook them myself. So I just took a photo and moved on.

I'm wearing nada make up (needless to say as I came in my nightie haha), hence the cropped images.

Anyhow anywho: my herb garden is complete again and if I want to make an impromptu Mojito I can because I now have mint in my window.

Ah - these garden angels have no crucial role in this post but they get to end up on the blog anyway cause they're pretty cute. / / / XXX

Chanel-o!

by Teresa 20. February 2012 07:49

The other day I was invited to experience the infamous CHANEL installation entitled Numéros Privés, held at the Pavilion in Dubai

The entire venue was rebuilt and turned into a CHANEL wonderland where myself and two other bloggers (Zoe from anybodysomebodynobody.com and Tala from myfashdiary.com) were allowed to wander around in different chambers showcasing everything from how the legendary 2.55 bag is made to an identical replica of both Karl Lagerfeld’s library and Coco's Parisian Rue Chambon apartment.

Needless to say I was blown away by it's all (beauty tends to leave me breathless and I found myself borderline teary at times).

The best part is that despite that it was a strictly ''No Cameras Allowed'' event, myself and the above mentioned ladies were the only ones allowed to take and publish unlimited amount of photos. The Chanel PR office chose online coverage above the printed one and selected a handful of bloggers suitable for the role - needless to say I am beyond flattered to be one of them.

Anyhow anywho: Chanel magic about to commence, stay tuned!

I will post one image a day for the next 30 day, starting off with my monochrome outfit-du-jour, with self made gold and pearl necklaces that I gathered from vintage stores all over Paris a a little hommage to the Chanel heritage.I teamed it with a leather mini but that's just me! (

(Something I learned atthe event was that the reason why pearls were Coco's personal favourite was because she found that their shade and ability to softly reflect light illuminated her face in the most flattering manner.) /// XXX P.S come back tomorrow for more CHANEL magic!
